OUR BRIGADEIRO

It’s Brazil’s famous party treat – a bite-sized chocolate delight that’s sensuously creamy, a round pop of rich flavor.  And there’s nothing tiny about these brigadeiros. Each bite is outrageous – intense chocolate, hand dipped in fine spices for assorted flavorful pleasures. Particularly popular with children (or anyone with a sweet tooth), these chocolate sweets are the Brazilian equivalent of a simple truffle.  Made with just store cupboard ingredients (condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter), they became an easy and accessible treat that remains popular at parties and festivals.

Brigadieros da Escocia (chocolate truffles)

Particularly popular with children (or anyone with a sweet tooth), these chocolate sweets are the Brazilian equivalent of a simple truffle. Named after the famous 1940s political figure Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, the sweets became particularly popular during this time due to a lack of fresh ingredients during and following World War II. Made with just store cupboard ingredients (condensed milk and cocoa powder), they became an easy and accessible treat that remains popular at parties, carnivals and festivals today.

Uvinha

Grape surprise (surpresa de uva or uvinha) is a tart grape covered with sweet white brigadeiro and then shaped into balls. Its sweet and sour flavor is amazing!

Beijinhos

Benijinhos

Beijinho is the coconut version of the brigadeiro. When rolled, it can be covered with granulated sugar or grated coconut. Traditionally a single clove is stuck in the top of the candy. The “little kiss” in Portuguese.

Brazilian Carrot Cake (bolo de cenoura)

Brazilian carrot cake is nicely moist and fluffy, smells like a sunny morning in spring, has a beautiful bright dough, and the chocolate sauce is a sweet finishing touch.

Brazilian Honey Cakes (Pao de Mel)

Our Pao de Mel is out-of-this-world.  Brazilian Honey Cakes, aka Pão de Mel, are everything your sweet tooth could ask for. Spiced chocolate honey cakes, filled with dulce de leche and covered in chocolate! I can’t think of anything better than that by itself or with a cup of coffee!
